Christmas Task Board

 Today we did a Christmas task board. We did two activities on the task board.                                                  The first one was Maori Christmas flash cards. 

The second one was a quiz with 2 questions.

Visual Mihimihi

 Today we did a visual mihimihi. We had to do the Kaimihi, then a karakia or tauparapara, we also did a whakatauki, our pepeha and whanau and nga mea pai ki ahau (things I like.)

Why Is Pluto A Dwarf Planet?

For the past week me and a few friends have been working on a space project. We had to pick a question to research. Me and my group chose to research about why Pluto is a dwarf planet.

Here is our research

Pluto was downgraded to a dwarf planet in August 2006 by the International astronomical union because
 it didn’t meet the three criteria for being a full - sized planet. This was because it shared it’s orbital path and hadn’t cleared it’s neighbouring region.
Pluto shares its orbital path with many objects in the Kuiper Belt

What is a dwarf planet?

A dwarf planet is a celestial body that orbits the sun, has to be big enough to be almost  a round shape and has not cleared its orbital path.

Our Solar System

 We have been learning about the solar system. For the pas week I have been making a solar system on scratch.  We first had to find  a solar system and then remix it. I added other planets to make it look like the solar system. It was really fun. The hard bit was coding the planets.

Korean Ahurea

In the past week we’ve been learning about different cultures. In my group I had Miriam, Pippin, Te Paea, Mana and Eva. As a group we had to choose what culture we wanted to do and we chose Korean. We had to research their traditional things they do/have such as Traditional clothing, music, games, kai, holidays, location and then beliefs and values. 

After we had our information we shared on a slide, we had to make a poster about it with the information about the topics we had to research about. We also added photos.

The hard part was the poster because we had to cut out, glue and write
