Amazing Artwork Colouring

  Today in Cybersmart we did one of  summer learning journey activity. We chose a famous artwork from various artists. I chose this because i like watermelons.

Would you like to be in a book club?

For reading we are doing book clubs where you have to read a book with your group and fill out a discussion ticket with figurative language, vocabulary words, your Favorite paragraph, your favorite part of the section you are reading and a discussion seed. 

First we choose a book that appeals to us then write our name on a sheet below the book and work with other people who chose the same book

Everyone has a job to do each day which can be translator, editor, publicist or illustrator. Afterwards we talk about our discussion seed then fill out our booklet.

We are reading a book called Dark Stone Eye. The author is called Scot Gardner.

The book is about a stone called the dark stone eye, and if anybody sees it they instantly fall in love with it. The main character is Ben who's nanna tells him the story of the dark stone eye.

I'm in a ropu with Ashur, Adam and Te Whetu.

Tuatahi, string games. On Tuesday we split into groups for different things to do. There was 3 options, string games, soap carving, pou and rakau. I chose string games. We used maori while learning string games.

I took my big topic from a watermelon to a slice, then a seed

I started with my watermelon, the NBA, narrowed it to a slice, which was the Miami Heat then to a seed, Bam Adebayo.

I enjoyed taking my topic down to a seed.

I found choosing a NBA Miami Heat player challenging.

The monster under the bed.

Through the past week we have been learning to write descriptive texts, this mine.

I enjoyed describing the monster in my story.

So it started last autumn when Sophie started having strange dreams. Sophie has brilliant sea green eyes and nice silvery hair and soft skin. Anyway it all happened very fast. To fast for Sophie. 

One day she had woken up about a terrifying monster. She was relieved it was only a dream. She was tired as a hibernating bear in the winter.

Not wanting to get up as it was a weekend but reluctantly she turned over and was about to get up but fell off her bed and landed on one of her trophy's she got from hockey.  "owwww!" She yelped in her high-pitched voice as a sharp pain pierced her side. It looked like a bomb had exploded in her room. To be specific a clothes bomb. It had been a strange week. There were growls coming from somewhere every night. She suspected it was just a dog.

As she was getting up she tripped over a box with something heavy inside...

And then she saw it a MONSTER!!! There was white foam dripping from his mouth which distinctively said that he was hungry. He was tall and lanky with dirty yellow fingernails. He had yellow fur which didn't stand out with his yellow fingernails as well as cold beetle black eyes which were bulging.

She tried to scream to scream but nothing came out. She was paralyzed with fear.

"Hello." He said in a hollow voice. "H-h-hello." She replied, trembling as she spoke.

"H-how are you?" She asked.

"Fine thanks." He said. His sharp teeth shone and slimy drippy saliva showed in the little daylight shining through the curtains. "Nice to eat- oops- meet you." He said.

Suddenly Sophie dashed hastily out of the room calling for her father.

Sophie wasn't somebody who lied so he ran in and the monster had vanished.

"Stupid child. What rubbish." He said and left muttering something about nonsense and young people these days. 

Sophie never saw the monster again.

Check Out This Great Maramataka Work!

Today we learnt about the phases of the moon. Then we researched the maori kupu.

Below is my creation showing this, it took 2 blocks of learning, i am proud of it.
The hardest thing for me was the research because i spent 1 block of learning on it and the names of the phases were on the board, next time i'm going not try make to many mistakes, please give feedback so i know what to do better next  time.
